Review policy
Every FindResto review comes from a diner who proved they ate there. This is how we keep it that way.
Proof of visit
- A dine-in receipt (photo or PDF), for dish and restaurant reviews
- A delivery order email, for dish reviews
- A staff scan of your FindResto card's live code. A typed card number counts once you confirm the visit in the app
Receipts are read automatically and checked by our team when anything is unclear. A receipt can be used on one account only.
What counts towards scores
- Only reviews from verified visits in the last 90 days (12 months for restaurant reviews)
- Only your latest review of each dish
- New accounts count half until they have reviewed three restaurants
- A rating far from most other diners counts half, whether higher or lower
- A diner's finding, such as "contains egg", is shown only when three or more diners report it
What never counts
- Reviews by the restaurant's owners, staff, family or friends. These are also not shown publicly (you can still see your own)
- Meals that were free or paid for by the restaurant (shown as sponsored)
- Reviews in exchange for anything: FindResto and restaurants never reward reviews
Timing and anonymity
Your review goes public three days after you write it; until then you can withdraw it. Public reviews show no name and only the month. Restaurants can't see who wrote a review.
What not to write
- Names or details of staff or other people
- Offensive or discriminatory language
- Links, email addresses or phone numbers
- Anything that isn't your own experience
Checks and reports
- Unusual patterns, such as many new accounts reviewing one place, are held for our team, who release or remove them, usually within one working day
- Anyone can report a review; we check every report
- Restaurants caught arranging reviews get a public notice and their score is frozen
Restaurants cannot reply to, edit, remove or pay to change reviews.
